How does a child support order affect health insurance?

Whenever a Child Support Order is entered or modified in conjunction with a family law case, the court will address the issue of health care insurance for the children, and is authorized to require both parents to provide medical support for any child named in the Order of Child Support as provided in RCW 26.09.105.

How much does child support pay for health care expenses?

In every instance the court shall designate one parent who is receiving support and shall be responsible for payment of the uninsured health care expenses up to 6% of the Basic Child Support Obligation. If the court determines it is necessary to deviate from the parenting time credit, it shall state its reasons in the order.

What is a child support credit?

(c) The child support credit with respect to children for whom the obligor is obligated by an order to pay support is computed, regardless of whether the obligor is delinquent in child support payments, without regard to the amount of the order.
